February 24, 2010 - Helsinki, Finland - Tracker Security is proud to announce that the Swedish Orienting Association has selected LoneLocator as the monitoring and locating solution for their national championship race.
Orienteering is a complex sport with simple tools. Competitors are timed as they race through rugged terrain to a series of control points using only a map and compass. The winner is determined by the shortest time to complete the entire course. The nature of the sport has made it difficult for the spectators to know what is going on during the race, and for participants to review their performance after the event.
LoneLocator is made up of two components: GTS-200 GPS/GSM tracking device; and Locator mapping software. Event participants carry the lightweight GTS-200 in their pack. The device can regularly send GPS coordinates, or event organizers can poll the device for location reports on demand. Locator software charts the location of participants on an easy to understand map.
Now, working with Tracker Security’s LoneLocator event organizers can provide real time, mapped results of where competitors are on the field. Additionally, participants will be able to review their progress after the event.
An added feature of the GTS-200 is the on-board panic alarm. If a participant becomes injured on the course he or she can press the button and event support teams will know their immediate location to begin a prompt rescue.
“For tracking people in the rugged outdoors, nothing can beat Tracker Security’s LoneLocator. And few people experience the rugged outdoors like competitors in the Swedish Orienting Association National Championship Race. This is a wonderful partnership of technology and the human competitive spirit,” said Einari Kanerva, Executive Vice President with Tracker Security.
Tracker Security developed people tracking systems to simplify tracking and locating multiple people.
